The Pradhan Mantri Kisan Urja Suraksha evam Utthaan Mahabhiyaan (PM KUSUM) scheme is a government initiative in India to promote the use of solar energy in the agricultural sector. The scheme aims to provide financial and technical support to farmers for setting up solar water pumping systems and other renewable energy-based power generation systems on their land. The scheme also includes provisions for setting up community and standalone solar power plants, and for grid-connected solar power plants. The scheme was launched in 2018 with a total outlay of Rs. 34,422 crore.
